Jim & Michelle Russell, along with several esteemed community leaders, during a live press conference at Lindsay Park in Davenport on Friday, released information regarding a new community event to take place on Quad-City Times Bix7 weekend (Saturday, July 24, 2021).

Speaking at Friday’s press conference on behalf of the event were:

The event is titled The Heights of the Era.

The Heights of the Era is a FREE and all-inclusive event gifted to the community by event benefactors.

The Heights of the Era is 14.5 hours of live music in the genres of:

  • 1910s – 1920s Dixieland Jazz

  • O Brother Where Art Thou style Bluegrass

  • Traditional Irish, Barbershop Quartet

  • A Cappella

All 14.5 hours will also be broadcast live on WVIK Quad Cities NPR, from the racecourse stages (8am – 9:30am) and Main Stage (9:30am – 10:30pm) in Lindsay Park.

The Heights of the Era organizers have assembled a best-in-the-country lineup of musicians from New York, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago.

  • Music begins at 8am on the Bix7 Race Course (two locations), and moves to the Main Stage in Lindsay Park at 9:30am where brunch will be served FREE until noon to the tunes of vintage swing jazz.

  • Live music continues all day on the main stage. Lineup can be found on the event website: TheHeightsoftheEra.com.

The Heights of the Era headlining performer features a 10-piece orchestra at 9pm.

Flapper Girl dance performances on stage during the day, as well as Flappers posing for pics with guests at the “photo gallery”.

The Heights of the Era is a BYO event – meaning Bring Your Own. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, lawn blankets, picnic baskets full of food, coolers full of beverage (adult beverage is allowed).

For those who do not want to lug a chair, cooler, or picnic basket, folks will also have the option to pre-purchase “all in fast passes” which will have Butler from, MyButler Concierge Service, waiting with a chair for them and to serve up free food all day. The Heights of the Era has been created to offer a genuine feeling of taking a step back in time, while simultaneously stepping forward into our future. This event will be executed in a top caliber fashion, but enjoyed in a casual come-one, come-all way.

2020 was a year of stress and loss for many. Event benefactors are making this event happen to provide a day of carefree nostalgic bliss for our community.
